So... my life situation has put alot of things on hold, this blog being one of them. Ive been making an effort to be as informative as I can with this Obsidian Grave thing and will be looking to to do more serious things in the future and possibly starting a Tape distro. My band AMAROK will be hittin the road this Aprill to do a national tour. So if you're in the states make sure to check our band page for tour dates that should be posted sooner than later. I will be doing all that I can to keep my readers informed on here but in the next few months, its going to be tough. DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

hOODED mENACE- nEVER cROSS THE DEAD

oK. So lots of hype on this release in 2010. I saw it on the top of alot of lists for best of.. and... I must say i agree. This release def stands out and Has influenced me personally and my direction of writing music (Yeah, its like that) Most of you readers who read this blog should already know all about this and if you don't than here you go, HOODED MENACE are are punishing death/doom band that play Doom more in the "traditional" style of Doom and this release absolutely crushes!  If you like Coffins you should love this. Crippling melodic chugging riffs with an occult influence much along the same influence of MOSS with their Tombs Of The Blind Dead themes. As far as me posting my personal best of 2010 list, I just haven't been into judging things that way yet, but I will tell you if I do get around to making one this will be in my top 5 for SURE! Pick up this Lp at the only place that seems to still have them in in the states PROFOUND LORE
and over seas Im not sure where you should go.

Cauchemar La Vierge Noire

Why did I wat so long to grab this? This band Is killer! Finally got ahold of the LP, be prepared for vintage sounding Sabbath esque French, occult-like, Canadian  Heavy Metal! Bands that come to mind are obviously Sabbath, early Priest, Witchfinder General, Venom, Acid, Witchfynde, Dust, and most bands that hail from the NWOBHM era. The vocals, from a female lady who can really belt the shit out, is why this release has some originality! Fuck! Cheers to bands that keep their sound archaic and fresh at the same time. My only complaint about this Lp is that its too short. I want more.... Head on over to NuclearWarNow! if you want a copy.

Possessed - Exploration

NWOBHM at its finest! Possessed from UK. I have been a fan of both Possessed bands (the other being the legendary satanic thrash band from the Bay area) for many many years. I just felt like mentioning this release because it is so killer and currently still available in CD and Vinyl format. This is a Diamond in the rough for its time. Re-released on RISE ABOVE, you know this shit has got to be full of riffs. I think Lee Dorrian refuses to release anything old or new or reissue, that doesn't beat the shit out of you, one Riff at a time!!! This release can can be found overseas at many locations and its a little more scarce here in the states. I would send you to ALL THAT IS HEAVY to pick this one up for an affordable price, the vinyl also comes with a bonus 7 inch and with that you pretty much have everything the band ever released considering the tragic story behind this super-group early doom influenced British Heavy Metal. WORSHIP!

.This is the story of a band whose tragic legacy could never have been predicted. Possessed were born out the thriving underground West Midlands Rock & Blues scene of the mid to late 60s. This was a scene in which band- leader, Vernon Pereira, had been a key figure. The band were formed in late 1969 when Vernon teamed up (after a spell playing next to Robert Plant in The Band Of Joy) with Mick Reeves, who had been playing in (amongst other bands) Sugarstack with Al Atkins. This was the band that would eventually evolve into being the first incarnation of Judas Priest. Exploration was originally intended for releases in 1971. Due to various reasons the album never saw the light of day. The band were finally on the verge of signing a major deal, when tragedy struck. Whilst returning home from a gig in 1976, the band's van drove into a stationary tanker, taking the lives of three band members."

Ingrid Pitt, who survived a Nazi concentration camp and dodged Communist police to become one of Britain's best-known horror stars, died Tuesday, today. She was 73.

Luckily I got the U.S. pressing from Witch Sermon but those ones went quick...real quick. This is another cult release from this "Monolithic horror metal" trio from Southampton UK. If u haven't heard of MOSS and you are a fan old occult horror and DOOM then you're missin out!!

OK OK ...another hells headbangers release. This is hot right now, (yeah i just said hot, i wont say that again) because it hasn't even been officially released, but the headbangers over at HELLS are selling this one advance right now! Once again Like ive said, The vocals are really raw and not for the FAINT! GodDamnit this band kills! always have but I'm really diggin the newer material. you can listen to a short sample of the album streaming here but don't make any judgments by listening to the 45 some seconds you get to hear there. NO ONE sounds like INQUISITION true black metal!

Cant wait to have this in my hands, One of my fav. modern doom bands right now. From the clips I heard you can expect something a little more fresh from Cough as I've heard some tasteful "singing" going on in this release. Available many places (VINYL/CD) but RELAPSE is who released this one. Congrats to these dudes on that recent signing on their upcoming U.S. tour coming to a city near you, and lucky me because my band AMAROK will have the pleasure to play 3 west coast dates with these guys coming up late November/December. Go check the tour dates. IF you come out to the Chico, Portland or Seattle shows be sure to come say whats up and tell me you read Obsidian Grave!!! Seriously? Holy shit!! This new release is amazing... While on the HELLHAMMER subject today, this is Tom G. Warrior's new band! Triptykon Has a "new" edge but is of course in the "RAW and PRIMITIVE" fashion that Tom G. does best! Check this out. Triptykon is on tour in the states now so go check them out in a city near you. This release came out yesterday and is available Worldwide just about anywhere.

My favorite Black Metal right now... very reminiscent of the early 90's movement going on overseas... The vocals may turn some people off because of the lack of growling which i think sounds even more brutal if you do it the right way and tastefully.Very different and evil as fuck!!! This release (remastered version) especially,  is hypnotic, spacey, atmospheric and heavy. Personally I hear a lot of doomy passages involved in this album.
