COUGH-Ritual Abuse

Cant wait to have this in my hands, One of my fav. modern doom bands right now. From the clips I heard you can expect something a little more fresh from Cough as I've heard some tasteful "singing" going on in this release. Available many places (VINYL/CD) but RELAPSE is who released this one. Congrats to these dudes on that recent signing on their upcoming U.S. tour coming to a city near you, and lucky me because my band AMAROK will have the pleasure to play 3 west coast dates with these guys coming up late November/December. Go check the tour dates. IF you come out to the Chico, Portland or Seattle shows be sure to come say whats up and tell me you read Obsidian Grave!!! Meanwhile, go order the new Cough album, find some freshly harvested herbs (pref. some Californian ones!)

 HELLHAMMER WORSHIP

This is some true old skool sounding shit.. KVLT. If you sound anything like Hellhammer I will never hate it. Well maybe In a good way...  and if you don't own a cassette player because you have been keeping up with  this wayy too fast-paced world... GET A CLUE! buy this

INQUISITION- Into The Infernal Regions Of The Ancient Cult

My favorite Black Metal right now... very reminiscent of the early 90's movement going on overseas... The vocals may turn some people off because of the lack of growling which i think sounds even more brutal if you do it the right way and tastefully.Very different and evil as fuck!!! This release (remastered version) especially,  is hypnotic, spacey, atmospheric and heavy. Personally I hear a lot of doomy passages involved in this album.

Taken from Metal Maniacs-
ESSENTIAL cult Satanic masterpiece from the second wave of 90's Black Metal. Unlike many imposters from the same era, Inquisition is the true embodiment of Satan with a unique and characteristic style of Black Metal crafted over the past 20 years. Into the Infernal... now boasts a much better sounds quality (mastered for the very first time), and all new cover artwork painted by Antichrist Kramer. Hear a true black metal classic again, or for the first time. You will submit to this minimal-is-maximal monolith...

Listen to a preview and order shit Here. There is a deluxe digi pack coming soon as well as the proper vinyl release for this album

VON Satanic Blood Ritual DVD

Taken from NWN-

There is virtually nothing that needs to be said regarding the tremendous importance of the video footage collected on this DVD. For the first time, fans of VON can see the imposing power of their performance. Very few VON fans ever had the opportunity to see this band in a live setting. Their live performance, however, is an integral part of the essence of VON. In the same way that VON’s music was simple but effective, the band’s live image was similarly minimal but calculated. Unlike many of their contemporaries, VON’s imagery was not marred by being trapped in a particular time and place. The aesthetic of VON is timeless and is as powerful now as it was then. This DVD collects the only video footage of VON known to exist. The two shows presented here both took place in the Bay Area. The second of these two shows contains a song entitled “Jesus Stain” that has never before been released. In addition to the video footage, the DVD comes with an 8 page booklet and a DVD slideshow containing previously unreleased band photos. This DVD is essential for understanding VON. VON was more than just a band that released a few demos. During their short existence VON created an entire aesthetic universe. Each element, the music, the lyrics, the artwork, and the live performance coalesced into the composite whole of VON.

Lobster priest

Speaking of Bong and cassettes, heres members of in this group. Cassette available here. Blackest Rainbow Records is one of my faves. I'm intrigued by the name of this group and need to hear this.. so should you...

Fowl Water by OBEY

Bong

This group rules... I'm not a giant drone fan but these guys are soo dark and evil. Bong are more Psychedelic, and trance-like but extremely heavy at the same time! Very very limited cassette tape that is a live recording at the Samhain Festival. Most of Bong's recording come from bootlegs of live recording so this is nothing new from them. But this tape is. Awesome layout. Hurry if you want one.

Witchfinder General Box Set

I've been waiting for this... Way up there on the WANT list.... This band is so influential. Grab this piece of time before these are all gone.

WITCHFINDER GENERAL's classic Death Penalty and Friends of Hell releases issued on heavyduty 180g vinyl with 20 page 12" x 12" booklet with full lyrics, a forward by Phil Cope, articles, clippings, dozens of never before seen live, studio shots, promotional pictures as well as outtakes from the Friends of Hell photo session.  A definite collector's item issued by the great Buried by Time & Dust label!

SKAGOS/PANOPTICON

2 AMAZING bands on one disc. Nature inspired blackened anarchist, acoustic, ambient, Metal (yeah somthing like that). Ive been following both of these projects for some time and cant wait to hear this.

taken from Flesner Records:

"Skagos- a 27+ minute long Cascadian manifesto that is lyrically complex and genre confounding.
Panopticon- delivers 24 minutes of raw introspection and reproach of western values swirled into a meditation of facing ones own mortality
Presented in a digipack CD. The artwork is made of photographs that Bekah Lundr took in Norway and have a very rich saturated feel. Logos and additional designs are printed over the artwork in UV gloss so you can enjoy the images without much getting between you and the artwork."

Heres a teaser from the 27 minute Skagos track

PROCER VENEFICUS - How The Heather Mooonlight Shivers

Amazing release that has go in a different direction conjuring up alot more dark and experimental sounds than the previous black metal outings. Cinematic blackened drone folkness that is haunting, buzzing, low end, melancholic, and psychedelic. and more......

                                                                                 Brilliant!

try Just Another Winter for euro ordering
and AQUARIUS for the U.S.

LABYRINTHINE- Evoking The Multiverse

One man black metal atmospheric buzzscapes that are very lo-fi, ethereal, melodic, black, depressive and at times technical and I would say somewhat psychedelic. If its your kinda thing then go check his myspace to listen and order releases. LABYRINTHINE

DETRITIVORE- Pakt

Debut LP.  I hear wide array of influence from drone to noise to doom and even more. With artwork by Justin Bartlett, and mastering done by James Plotkin, already cause some attention. I expect some cool shit from this Norwegian duo following this unique heavy mesmerizing piece of what sounds like a beautiful decent into the darkness.

available many spots but released on Lyderhorn Records

Monarch - Sabbat Noir

I have not heard this yet, but I assume that its nothing short of Fucking Heavy, I'll tell you that much. French Doom, relentlessly slow and evil. Check anything out by MONARCH. I believe this is the most recent recording (released March 2010) someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  Taken from Heathen Skulls:

Hailing from Bayonne, a small town located in the dark reaches of the south of France, better known as Basque Country, lies a slow as hell, dark as death blackened doom metal band like no other, they call them selves Monarch and they ascended to this earth in the year of 2004 via their previous fast-core power violence incarnation Tetsuo.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Khanate, Burzum, Corrupted, Melvins and Burning Witch, Monarch are a feedback drenched funeral doom quartet fronted by the very beautiful and devilishly evil screaming banshee Emily Bresson. On bass we have MicHell Hammer on Bass, on guitar Shiran Fabrice and now on drums Robert MacManus, formally of Grey Daturas.

Sabbat Noir is Monarch’s latest long player, it’s one one long piece of music split into two pieces spread across both sides of the Sabbat Noir LP. It was recorded at Amanita Studios, France, in late December 2009 by Stephen Kreiger. Sabbat Noir is strictly limited to 400 180-gram LP’s.
